@offenceregister: A 34-year-old teaching assistant who groomed a 15-year-old pupil with gifts before sexually abusing him in her bedroom has been convicted. Isle of Wight Crown Court heard that Melanie Rock, of Cowes, Isle of Wight, targeted the teenager while working at Medina College. She obtained his social media details, bought him clothes, vapes, and arcade money, and took him on outings. Jurors heard Rock brought the boy to her home, where she displayed sex toys, transparent lingerie, and handcuffs before engaging in sexual behaviour with him on her bed. She was later spotted with the boy at a restaurant by a colleague, falsely claiming he was her godson. Despite denying the offences, a jury found Rock guilty of grooming and abuse of trust.
