@nino.america: Reginald “RJ” Harrell was supposed to have Wednesday off. Instead, the 17-year-old Texas teenager went to work at a McDonald’s in the Houston area. He never made it home. RJ was a senior at Cypress Creek High School. His family says he had plans for his future, including becoming a welder after graduation. He had started working at the restaurant earlier this year. Those who knew him described him as a loving young man who was often smiling. But late Wednesday night, October 7, something happened inside the restaurant that would leave his family facing an unimaginable loss. Authorities say RJ and a 16-year-old coworker were involved in an altercation while employees were preparing to close the restaurant on Louetta Road in northwest Harris County. Investigators allege the younger employee st•bbed RJ during the confrontation. Other employees tried to help him, but his injuries were too severe. RJ was pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old coworker was taken into custody and subsequently charged with murder. Because the suspect is a juvenile, authorities have not publicly released his identity. Investigators have not announced a motive. RJ’s mother, Denisha Dennis, has spoken publicly about losing her son and wanting justice for him. His sister, Kourtnee, has also described the heartbreak of realizing that the last time RJ walked out the door for work would be the last time she saw him. He was just 17. He was getting ready to finish high school, had plans to learn a trade and was working toward a future that should have been waiting for him. Now, instead of preparing to watch RJ graduate, his family is preparing to live without him. A young man’s life should never be reduced to the circumstances of his death. RJ was a son, a brother, a student and a young worker with dreams of becoming a welder. Please keep his family in your prayers as they seek justice and try to find their way through this loss. #RememberRJHarrell #TexasFamilies #JusticeForVictims
