I watched October 7th unfold through my phone screen, thousands of kilometres away in Australia. But October 8th was the day my own world began to change. People I’d known for years went quiet. Some of my closest friends stopped speaking to me. Thousands of people from the online community I’d spent my childhood building disappeared. Suddenly, being born in Israel seemed to matter more than anything I had ever created, said or done. I lost friendships, opportunities, and a sense of belonging I had never thought to question. I think October 8th changed the way so many of us see the world. We lost a certain innocence when we realised that even people who had known and loved us for years could suddenly see us so differently. Friendships, conversations, and people we once admired were never quite the same. But somewhere in everything I lost, I found something much greater. I held on to my Judaism tighter than ever. I found my people, a family who shows up no matter what. Love with no conditions. And a deeper connection to my faith, my people and the place I call home. My world became smaller in some ways, but so much bigger in others. For a long time, I kept asking myself, where do I belong? This song is about losing that sense of belonging, only to discover that perhaps I had been looking for it in the wrong places all along. “Where Do I Belong?” is for anyone who has ever felt the world turn its back on them, and had to find their way home again. 🤍 My original song “Where Do I Belong?” will be available for pre-save next week. So much love #Israel #Jewish
