The parents of 18-year-old Noah Trevino, who was one of three people killed in a car crash on Abbott Street between Highway 101 and Harris Road near Salinas on Sunday night, are speaking out about their loss and honoring their son’s memory. Noah’s older brother, Nathan, was also in the car at the time of the crash but survived. Their parents, Rene and Drina Trevino, said the past week has been the hardest of their lives. “We just miss him so much,” said Noah's father, Rene Trevino. This is the first time the Trevinos have spoken publicly since the crash. They described Noah as a loving son and brother who made a lasting impact on those around him. “He was great at everything he did. A great big brother, a great little brother, a great son. He just loved Jesus. And he loved his family,” Rene Trevino, said. Noah, a recent graduate of Soledad High School, was known for his talent on the football field and for inspiring those around him. “There wasn’t a day that went on that my son didn’t give me motivation. The only thing that I can come to terms with is that I wasn’t a blessing to him. He was the gift to me,” Noah's mother, Drina Trevino, said. Nathan, who is now home and recovering, remains a source of hope for the family as they cope with their grief. “We just have a long road ahead of us, you know, to get him better and to get him healthy and get him back on track. So he can live for his brother,” Rene Trevino said. The Trevinos shared that their sons had gone out with friends to celebrate a birthday by getting ice cream in Salinas. “They were on their way back home when the tragedy happened,” Rene Trevino said. Through their grief, the family hopes to encourage others to cherish their loved ones. “If you have children and you’re a mama, and you get one more chance to kiss your kid, tell them. I don’t have a regret in my soul because my son knew that I loved him,” Drina Trevino said. A celebration of life for Noah is scheduled for October 17 at Cypress Church on Highway 68. The family invites anyone who knew Noah to attend.
