Early LGOC motor double-decker with brass wheel and petrol engine. 4:30 AM you wake up in your terraced house and put on your LGOC uniform. 5:00 AM checking the oil and engine in the depot. 6:00 AM first route through the London fog. 8:00 AM morning rush hour — "Fare please, miss" — pennies in the box. 12:00 PM lunch break next to the motor bus. 3:00 PM afternoon route through the busy streets. 6:00 PM last run — empty bus, gas lamps coming on. 8:00 PM end of day in the depot, wiping down the wheel.
