I grew up in South El Monte! Left in my 20’s Came back home to take care of my mom and now living in my childhood home after my parents passing! It’s definitely way different now but it’s home! ♥️

grew up with my grandparents in s.el Monte, years passed, one home was ready to move in out of 8 homes I was looking at, now i am back in my city again, did not expect it, but it feels just so right, hearing the little private planes in the morning, seeing wild animals at night, hearing oldies in cars driving by, affordable things at the world's first out door mini mall, seeing wishing wells, French fries available in thick portions, breakfast places with heavy hash browns, I did not know I needed to be back home.

I grew up across the street from El Monte High School were the men use to play hand ball after work. I remember as a kid running to get the ball on the other side when the ball went over and the guys use to pay me or take took me to 7-Eleven for getting there ball. Those were the good-old days.

Grew up across Monte, first on the corner of Durfee and Maplefield, then the Basye Apartments on Peck and Basye behind the old Blue Chip Stamp Redemption Center, then finally on Lower Azusa close to Arroyo HS. Not to mention, living in my car and staying in all the different motels on Garvey in the 80s. I haven't lived there in over 30 years but have some great memories.

not from El Monte but lived there for 6 years. it's a city that's close to everything. 5 -6 mins. to BP, IrwinDale, Monrovia, temple city , Arcadia
