Ndife-tate Andowa :
I am reaching out to content creators across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and every other platform because I believe it is time for us to unite our voices and confront the injustices happening to children around the world.
What happened in the Cornell case is a reminder that these issues deserve our attention, but the problem extends far beyond a single case or country. Children around the world continue to face child marriage, sexual abuse, exploitation, and systems that fail to protect them. In some places, these practices are tolerated, justified by tradition, or permitted under laws that leave vulnerable children without adequate protection.
These children deserve the same fundamental human rights, dignity, freedom, and protection as every other human being. Their rights should not become less important because of the country they were born in, the culture they belong to, or the religion practised by their communities.
We see leaders, governments, and international institutions speak out against racism, discrimination, and human rights violations in different parts of the world. Those are important fights, and they must continue. But protecting children from abuse should be just as much a priority. If we are willing to stand up for human dignity in one part of the world, why should we remain silent when children are being abused in another?
We are all human beings, regardless of our religion, nationality, culture, or beliefs. And no religion, tradition, or cultural practice should ever be used as an excuse to sexually abuse, exploit, or force a child into marriage. Faith should never be a shield against accountability, and cultural sensitivity should never mean turning a blind eye to the suffering of innocent children.
I am calling on content creators everywhere to put their differences aside and use their platforms to bring these injustices to the forefront of global attention. Imagine if creators from different countries united behind this cause, raised awareness together, and called on governments and the United Nations to take meaningful action.
