One time I let a tech order his own parts cause he insisted everyone was dumb in our shop buddy didn’t check the vin so he ordered all Korean built parts instead of American built parts. Needless to say he owed me lunchfor a week

I remind them that on complicated jobs they need to come assist with what freaking parts they really want. If I have to play the guessing game then that’s the techs fault. Or when they keep jumping between us in parts to order parts for major jobs

Nope a wrong part is 100% the techs fault. Make them point out the part on the catalog every time or at the very least double check with them before ordering. The consensus that parts guys order the wrong makes zero sense, the tech is the one choosing the parts.
