I'm autistic as a kid I only ate plane pasta and boiled carrots for lunch then teacher took my lunch to get me to eat something else did it work no I just didn't eat anything.

When my kid was in grade 2 they were doing a nutrition unit, and the teacher decided it was a good idea to tell the kids about the bad food that was in their lunches. the teacher made an example out of my kid specifically and pointed out that this is especially bad. she was making an example out of what she thought was cake, but it was sugar free chocolate zucchini loaf. my kid was very upset and had issues with food after that. i find it very wrong that teachers are telling kids that there is bad food and good food.

I was underweight as a child, so my mum packed me some homemade meals like spaghetti Bolognese and things like that. my school took my lunch off of me and gave me a Vegemite sandwich because spaghetti wasn't healthy enough. my mum had to bring in a doctor's note so I could eat "unhealthy" food. I was 5-6 at the time

My kid’s school took “unapproved” food away from the kids in the canteen. I’m sorry but unless they’re funding my kid’s pack up the school can be quiet. We pack what kiddo will eat, what we can afford and she never goes without.

I packed homemade cookies and the whole lunch was tossed. they said if they if it doesnt fit the criteria it can't be served. he literally doesnt eat, he hates most foods so I was packing carbs heavy breakfast lunch for my son. it really sucks

When I was in highschool it used to make me laugh because they would be so picky with what we had in our packed lunch and we were only allowed plain water….. unless we wanted to pay for school lunch’s where it was pizza pasta cakes sausage rolls fizzy drinks and fried food (literally only no salads or veg available 99% of the time) and it was so clear that didn’t care If we ate unhealthy food as long as they got money 🤦🏻♀️🤣

My son has Arfid. I went to the school last year and told the teacher who kept commenting to mind her own business. If my child is eating, it’s better than nothing. They are not apart of his medical team and until they become a dietician/physician/psychiatrist I don’t need any comments. This was after sending multiple letters, talking with the principal, and having his IEP shared with the teacher.

i was yelled at til i cried and told i had to go in the lunch line to get food bc my luch was a single serve peanut butter tub, pretzels to dip in, and fruit snacks in 2nd grade (I have ARFID, that was my safe food at school)

My sister kept getting in trouble at school for not finishing her lunch. The school never told my mom but one day she came home crying because she wasn't allowed to go to recess. That's when my mom found out. She had just been packing lots of options for her and never expected her to eat them all. 🥲

My kid is neurodivergent and school lunch is just about getting some calories in so they make it through the whole day without a meltdown. They struggle to eat at all since lunch time is overstimulating

One of my daycare kids told me she wasn’t allowed her snack because “cheez its weren’t healthy”. The girl ate a cucumber for lunch. She had a main course, and then an entire cucumber because she loves them. But her snack was deemed unhealthy. I was livid, and had to explain to her that cheez its are not healthy in the way an apple is, but that having a snack of cheez its is NOT unhealthy, especially if you’re having other foods through out the day.
