🌼 A LITTLE PATCH OF YELLOW This morning, I was looking out at the yard, noticing all the green grass, brown pine needles, and trees, when something caught my attention. Right there, all by itself, was one little patch of bright yellow flowers. And I thought, wow, that’s really pretty! Out of that whole yard, those were the only yellow flowers I could see. Just sitting there, showing off their beauty without a care in the world. But then my curiosity got the best of me. 😂 I wanted to know what kind of flowers they were, so I put my shoes on, walked outside, and took a closer picture. Come to find out, they’re most likely Leavenworth’s tickseed, a type of Coreopsis, which is Florida’s state wildflower! And here’s something I found interesting. These flowers grow naturally in Florida’s pine flatwoods, attract butterflies and bees, and can spread by dropping their own seeds. Something so small, growing in an ordinary patch of ground, has its own little part to play in nature. And that got me thinking. When I first looked outside, all I saw was something beautiful. But once I got curious, I began discovering things about those flowers that I never would have known just by admiring them from a distance. The flowers hadn’t changed. What changed was my understanding of what I was looking at. And I started thinking about how often that happens in life. We notice something. Maybe it’s a person, a conversation, a feeling, or something we’ve seen a hundred times before. But noticing something and understanding it aren’t always the same thing. Sometimes there’s so much more beneath what first catches our attention. And I wonder how many things I’ve walked past in my own life without ever getting curious enough to look a little closer. All of this because one little patch of yellow flowers caught my eye this morning. Sometimes what catches our attention is only the beginning. It’s the curiosity that helps us discover why it matters. Real Life Reflections — Tina Morgan 💛
