I trained with other Militaries. Biggest difference isn’t the gear it is are NCO Corps. Other Armies are officer driven and try emulate US NCOs but fail

one of the many reasons Britain was able to regain the Falklands was the fact that the Royal marines, Para's and gurkhas pride them selves on being able to yomp/tab over great distances and still fight at the end.

I always carried way more weight in my bags than the average person. my tool bag for work weighed 96lbs. I carried it all the time and even challenged people to lift it. most people failed. I may not be a body builder or have big muscles. but my muscles are used to heavy weights. gravity training at its finest.

Both are good, USA has more man power and personnel to lift shift and move, UK is smaller number same kit so every man (person) pulls their weight every step of the way. We (I’m British) have a history of literal marching to war every one must be able to carry everything they need regardless of distance, weather or terrain.

US Army infantry requires to do a 12 mile road march with complete combat gear load in under three hours every year to maintain certification. The PT test it’s for the entire army not just inventory is the inventory we have to do that 12 mile road mark with complete combat load.

Combat test is 4 miles with 40kg 2 mile group run with 25kg then another 2 mile best effort with 25kg.8 miles all together. American combat patrol weight is a lot lighter. Whilst average combat patrol weight for the UK is heavier as you have to patrol for up to 24 hours straight with what you have on you. Ammo can be spread among the section as everyone has their day sacks and carrying ammo for the section weapons is an SOP. Suppression is survival so more ammo, live longer.
