In the numbering of Hanville Svetz, the time traveler from Niven's stories, it's 71 AA, or Ante Atomic - they counted years from the detonation of the first atomic bomb in 1945 CE. Svetz hails from around 440 AA, as I recall. (He's supposed to use the extrnsion cage to collect extinct animals. What he didn't realize for quite a while was that every time he went back past the invention of the extension cage, he'd wind up in one or another fantasy world, because until the cage existed, time travel was fantasy. He went for a gila monster and caught a dragon; his trip to find a dog got him a werewolf; and in the very first story, "Get a Horse!", he was sent for a horse but found a unicorn.

Thailand uses the Buddhist calendar (as i found out when my laptop time travelled hundreds of years last year) which makes it currently 2569 in thailand!
