are you suggesting we just stop receiving pensions now .

You see that is how it works, for 45 years my contributions have paid for retired people's pensions, this was so for many years before me. Now the young don't want to do that, they don't want to pay in to a system that worked, needed tweaking but worked. You would prefer to see pensioners become homeless and hungry. Who would have that thought.

that’s how it goes, we relied on those before us, now we rely on the last two generations, then u will rely on the generations behind you. What is the problem?

I find this so dissengenuous to block the current pensioners in this way. Most of us have been complaining throughout our lives about how hard it is for the following generations to prosper and get on the property ladder. So please don't use the comments of a few just because it suits your agenda..

I thought people were meant to want better for their children and grandchildren? It’s seems these people want everyone else to suffer. They are miserable.

its a weird thing because ive always thought that the overall general consensus should be that, yes i cant solve all the problems instantaneously, but I leave the world in a better shape and place for my children, so they get more access to better services and the world is cleaner, more efficient, and life is generally happier, and then they do the same for the grandkids...but it seems to be going the opposite way

I can’t understand older generations not wanting it to better for the next generation. I hope that my kids, kids generation is far better than mine. Why must every generation struggle like the last and even worse just because they did.

My own mother said I don’t deserve a pension by the time I retire but she deserves one for working her whole life. She couldn’t understand that I too would’ve worked my whole life by the time I retire 🤷♀️

I do not think it is funny l feel very sorry for the young today. I am 75 and have paid tax ever since have worked. I hope all of the younger generation get a job and are able to get a pension l wish them all well.

If they are not interested in the present and future of the people in the country and in specific of the next generation, then they should not be allowed to vote.

The majority do not feel like this. The majority have sons, daughters and grandchildren.
I vote for them, not me.

I worked all my life and more than contributed to the pension, you also deserve your pension, its the government not managing maybe you should be looking at Westminster

The younger generation will probably not get a state pension because the government will have used all the funds for things that have nothing to do with the people they are supposed to serve

Why do people think making ridiculous comments like this would be met with anything other than scorn? Firstly I hope it lasts long enough for me to receive a state pension, but I hope there will still be a system where my children will get something too. That said, they are acutely aware of the pension issues and are following similar methods that you talk about Sean.

I'm 65 and I've paid into a private pension. it makes sense to do this and to have savings as well. I sleep well at night knowing I have enough.
