My ex taught me the great separation, she taught me that I am not ready for a relationship , not ready to live alone , not ready to commit . I realised this when she left me because I really did self reflect , now I’m trying to become the man that I need to be. I still miss her everyday , and hopefully when our paths cross again , we will be both better for each other - I’m 22 and my name is Seb - The great separation explanation is amazing.

Once they see you wanting better for yourself they grow resentment towards you.. I’ve always said it’s more rewarding being a lone wolf than in a pack filled with inauthenticity or growth 😊

My best friend always says that some people are meant to be in your life for a season, and some for multiple seasons and that’s stuck with me. Either way, don’t allow yourself to become complacent. Complacency means lack of growth & you are who you surround yourself with.

This will happen many times in your life. We are never firmly feet on the ground. Your friends will change with Jon changes. Relationship statues. Babies. Children. Children’s sports. Then the kids leave and you once again are recreating yourself. Then you age. Have grand kids. Separating from your old self again and recreating. Then parents lost. Then friends lost. Partners lost. Siblings lost. Kids taking care of you instead of you taking care of them. There is no one great separation. This is just the ebb and flow of life from beginning to end.

I believe the age of great separation can be extended to 20-46. I’m 46 and still go thru that separation. People will marry, divorce, change careers, change friends, etc. I found at my age that less people evolve and that contributes to more separation and even isolation.

U can still be friends w them u just have ur own path too. I still have friends from childhood. We went different directions but we still get together a few times a year. Feel like this generation gives up so easily on people

Sadly this only equats to Americans cus here in Africa as a man you start thinking this way from as early as 10 years, most of us don’t even get the luxury of enjoying life at an early age, we just smile and push through it.

Oh how do I tell you this?!? This will happen many times in your journey. You get better at learning who to keep and who needs to be removed. Some people will be roots and some leaves. It sucks when you think someone is a root and turns out they were only a branch. This was a good life lesson you've learned it will help you with the rest.
