@alz_daughter: ❤️ Not every visit is filled with smiles, laughter and rock 'n' roll. If you follow our journey, you'll know that I always try to focus on the positives of living with dementia. The moments of joy, the music, the laughter and the connections that are still possible. But today was hard. Really hard. 💔 There were still beautiful little moments with Mum. Music, cuddles with the dogs and a delicious milkshake. But there were also vacant stares, frustration and moments when I felt like I just couldn't reach her. And today, it all got a bit too much. I often share the good days because I want people to see that life doesn't end with a dementia diagnosis. And I will always believe that. But I also want to be real. Because loving someone with dementia means carrying a grief that comes and goes, sometimes when you least expect it. I'm sharing this because I know there will be other sons, daughters, partners and carers who understand exactly how this feels. We can celebrate the good moments and still be heartbroken by the difficult ones. Both are part of this journey. Tomorrow I'll pick myself up and keep finding those moments of happiness with Mum.
