The Warlock ransomware group has been targeting organizations by exploiting vulnerabilities in Microsoft SharePoint to gain initial access. That includes attacks against a water utility, a telecom provider, a regional government organization, and a university. And this is the part that matters: SharePoint is often exposed to the internet because companies need employees and partners to access it remotely. So when a serious vulnerability shows up, attackers don’t necessarily need to phish somebody first. They can go straight after the exposed server. That’s why patching internet-facing systems has to be treated differently. If a vulnerability is actively being exploited, waiting weeks for the next convenient maintenance window can get expensive fast. And once ransomware operators get that first foothold, the rest of the attack becomes a whole lot easier. Would you rather take a system offline temporarily to patch it, or risk leaving it exposed until the next maintenance window? Like the cyber news breakdowns? You can support the channel here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/aaronthesloth No pressure — every view, like, comment, and share already helps. #Cybersecurity #Ransomware #SharePoint #Microsoft #CyberNews
