@leftvoice: Last night, we joined hundreds of New Yorkers in the streets to protest against ICE's shooting 28 year-old Oscar Belgal in the Bronx. Belgal's shooting happened in the midst of a growing ICE surge across the country. Even in New York City, ICE's operations have only extended over the last months. As protesters made it abundantly clear, they weren't just out to denounce ICE's brutal operations, but also to protest against the NYPD that has given cover to as ICE has carried out their raids. They are demanding the abolition of ICE, of ICE off our streets, as well as the immediate disbanding of NYPD's Strategic Response Group, and the firing of police commissioner Jessica Tisch. If one thing is clear, it is that neither politicians, nor the state keep us safe. Minneapolis showed the way. The only way to protect our communities, our immigrant neighbors, co-workers, friends, is to organize defense committees every school, neighborhood, workplace. If they touch one of us, they touch all of us. #abolishice #ftp
