Oooooh! My biggest advice is try not to do the obvious thing! D&D is a game of questions and answers. . You will ask a lot of questions of the DM, usually on whether or not you can do a specific act, and the DM will either answer or ask you to roll. I feel like the thing that absolutely green players and decades long veterans have in common is they do the weird and fun choices, the former because they dont know any better and the latter because they now know how to find the choice that is not just fun for the players but for the DM as well. So that’s my advice. Whenever you do something, try to do the fun, obscure, not obvious thing. . If you need help, I am a tabletop game designer and a lifelong DM and my DMs are always open!

Most important….. think outside the box with all your moves. A good DM should be able to give you challenge rolls for anything they haven’t thought of. Used to play with a guy who would just decide anything so him and the rogue always fought cuz the rogue wanted to pick all locks.

Think creatively pull moves that the dungeon master would never think of I actually pulled a move so dangerous that the dungeon master banged his head against the counter and told me I’m weird I still consider it a compliment to today
