There is absolutely nothing wrong with a man loving his mum. In fact, I'd be more concerned if he didn't respect the woman who raised him. It's another thing to need your mum's approval before making decisions about your own relationship, career or future. At some point, a grown man has to trust his own judgment. --- 7. He compares you to his mum. "My mum never complained." "My mum used to cook like this." "My mum always..." If you're constantly being measured against his mother, you're never going to feel like you're enough. --- 8. He makes excuses for her behaviour. Instead of saying, "You're right, she shouldn't have said that," you'll hear things like, "That's just how she is." "She didn't mean it." "You're taking it too personally." Over time, you realise he'll defend her no matter what she does. --- 9. You never feel like you're his priority. This is probably the biggest one. When a man is emotionally ready for marriage, his relationship becomes his primary responsibility. That doesn't mean he stops loving his mother. It simply means he understands that his partner shouldn't constantly feel like she's competing with his mum for her own husband's loyalty. --- One thing I've learned is that loving your mother and being a mama's boy are two completely different things. A mature man honours his parents. A mama's boy depends on them emotionally in ways that make it difficult for his own relationship to thrive.
