Alex Van Duyn loves his neighborhood in Portland, but he could do without the jugs of urine. Since September, an unidentified urine bandit has been driving to Van Duyn’s neighborhood in the middle of the night and depositing gallon jugs full of urine in his recycling bin. Urine is a biohazard, so recycling workers cannot collect the bins. This has left Van Duyn and his neighbors with a puddle of problems to deal with on their own. Doorbell cameras have failed to catch the bandit’s license plate number, but the neighbors remain hopeful. Fun fact: Urine is very hard to test for DNA! Not only does urine only contain a very small amount of DNA, but what it does contain deteriorates very quickly due to the acidic environment. ... and who says the urine belongs to the bandit 👀
