@deepdatenews: Jio’s 1,600 Satellite Plan Is Not a Reply to Elon Musk. It Has Been Coming Since June. The timing looks perfect. Musk spends the week accusing Ambani of blocking Starlink. Days later, headlines say Jio is putting up 1,600 satellites. It reads like a counterpunch. It is not one. Here is the actual sequence. In June 2026 Ambani said in a chairman’s statement that Reliance was evaluating a sovereign low earth orbit constellation. In July a technical assessment involving IN-SPACe, ISRO and the DoT’s wireless planning wing found the plan technically sound. In September came reports of the altitude under consideration, around 650 kilometres against Starlink’s roughly 550. This week Jio presented it at India Mobile Congress in Delhi, a scheduled annual event, under the banner Sovereign Satellite Connectivity. Two more things worth being precise about. Jio presented this, not Ambani personally. And it is a proposal, not a network. The 1,600 satellites, 23 ground stations and coverage of more than 600,000 villages are targets. The joint venture has held IN-SPACe approval since 2024 but still needs DoT clearances and spectrum. Test flight around 2027, service around 2028, full coverage by 2035. Now the genuinely odd part. Jio and SpaceX signed an agreement in March 2025 to explore selling Starlink to Jio customers. So Jio intends to distribute Starlink and compete with it at the same time. Infrastructure on this scale does not get built in response to a tweet. It just gets announced near one. #Jio #Startupunbox #deepdatenews #ElonMusk #MukeshAmbani dSatellite Telecom IndiaMobileCongress SpaceTech IndiaStories
