one year at Thanksgiving the "kids table" decided that at random intervals we'd give each other a signal and all "laugh" at the same time to make everyone else jealous of how much fun we were having. it worked really well, lol

on the birthday of my grandma she had friends there and all adults were like talking, and of course a kids table. we were the family and everyone that was tired of the adult talking came to our table and had a pause and more fun that the rest of the evening

We call ours the “disappointment table” bc my grandma doesn’t want us interacting with her guests after introductions and sometimes she’ll put my dad with us (she invites mostly neighbors or people she does business with)

I’m the oldest child and grandchild, depending on if my grandmas side of the family would come or any friends of the family would decide if the second oldest grandchild and I sat at the adult table it happened pretty often before we were even 18 but not all the time, all the other cousins sit at the kid table unless somehow there was an open spot all of a sudden, we just have too many people in our family but my grandparents still have a toddler grandkid plus 2 toddler great grandkids that sit at the kids tables with the teenagers. They have a 10 top plus a 6 top and 4 top and 5 bar stools that usually all get filled up if most of the family and friends comes

I’ve sat at the grown up table since I was ten because my millennial older sisters stopped showing up and all my cousins are like 40 😂 last thanksgiving, I was 19 sat next to my 72 year old aunt and across from my 60 year old mom.

I always hated the idea of a kids table we didn’t do that on my dads side of the family but my dads girlfriends family did. I used to feel like they’d put me there so they wouldn’t have to hear me talk.

with my mom's side we always share the same table and all talk like a family. with my dad's side this happens but we "kids" are happier not sitting with the adults on that side. one time my father said quite confidently "my ex wife's mother makes better turkey." when his new wife and her mother had made the one they were eating. I mean he wasn't wrong my grandma makes some great food but man I was never happier to be on the kids table at that moment.
