@aircraft_engineer_: Burping a Rotax Engine for the First Time , RV-12 Build Did you know that an aircraft engine sometimes needs to be “burped” before checking its oil level? On the Rotax 912 iS, this procedure involves carefully turning the propeller by hand, following the manufacturer’s instructions, to return oil from the engine to the oil tank and obtain an accurate oil-level reading. And yes, it can actually make a burping sound.. A small procedure with an important purpose: accurate oil-level checks are essential to proper engine servicing and safe aircraft operation.
