In my case, the narcissist then went against the Flying Monkees, who then came back to me and tried to justify their “Flying Monkee” actions against me, but I had already moved on in life and told them to do the same, I wasn’t interested in any more of their “estranged explanations” of the actions of the narcissist! 🤷‍♂️👍😁

It can be more subtle than that and the subtlety is more effective. They do not have to tell a horrible story about you. The usually do it when they are angry at you about something. It could be something as simple as you got a compliment when they didn’t.. and then they will go to one of your friends and take a story that you may have told them years ago about your friend. It was an interesting story and not said in a derogatory way. But they will change that story slightly to make the person think you were speaking ill of them. Also, they could be talking very highly of you but they always add a butt for example, oh she has so much potential. She’s so smart and has so much going for her and I’m trying so hard to help her recognize this, but I haven’t been very successful because she does A, B, or C. So the person is more likely to believe them because they started out talking very highly of you.. for a great example of a covert narcissist go and read patrick Clancy’s go fund me. The go fund bee made him $1.7 million and he speaks very highly of Lindsey but his words do not match his actions. He was making 400 grand a year and she was driving a beat up Kia Sorrento with a busted that window covered in plastic.. please go read that go fund me that he wrote while his youngest was still alive. This is the perfect example of a covert, narcissist smearing your name. He convicts her, and because he spoke highly of her people believe him.
