@7newsq: The Federal Government is being warned support payments for many of those on welfare have become so inadequate, they're a disgrace. New data suggests up to three quarters of those relying on job seeker payments are at risk of living in poverty.
my abstudy went up by $3 but my rent went up by almost $20. meaning I'll only have about $100 after rent. I am stressed

God forbid they pull people on welfare out of poverty so we can afford to live and feed money back into the economy, they can see these comments, they can see the people struggling and they laugh in our faces

rent roughly $700 a week btw. then you have electricity, water, food, phone, internet, fuel. plus any other bills that come up, dentist, doctors, needing new work clothes, shoes. most of us are in debt.

I live in a house with 4 other people, I get 800 a fortnight. Roommate 1 gets the same, roommate 2 gets $100 a fortnight, roommate 3 doesn’t pay anything cause he’s roommate 4s bf. Roommate 4 gets $500 one week and $1000 the next. So In total we have $4,100 a fortnight, 2,050 a week. We can’t afford anything except rent.

i earn $600~/per fortnight on DSP. my partner earns $900~/per week working full time. in total, we have $1200 per week. with the current cost of living, this is not enough for someone to live.

People are getting really nasty too. You have strangers go out of their way to make a really nasty comment and all I am doing is going for an afternoon stroll. There is something evil in people. No one cares about anyone anymore. I get verbally attacked by complete strangers for no reason other than it makes them feel good. People are getting really violent and evil.

single Parenting payment is not even enough to pay rent or get food and if you work too you get anything but at least you can pay rent by working

“At risk of living in poverty” I can’t find a rental that is cheap enough to be able to pay rent and feed myself. I have a job but no hours, I live in a shed with no insulation and no bathroom. I have been scraping by trying to find better work but there’s just not enough work. On top of everything my payments got paused for attending an interview I found out about last minute.

im too sick for full time, but not sick enough for DSP, so while I do have a casual job that I enjoy working at, everytime i get paid by it my job seeker is cut down so much that I cant pay my bills and the pay from my casual job isn't enough, and i'm stuck like this month needing to find another $200 from somewhere, and god knows if im gonna be able to get my medications I need, and the increasingly spreading red rash on my face? fat chance I'll find the money to visit a dermatologist cause they cost $400 god damn dollars just for a consultation. so i just gotta live with it as it eats away at my will to show my face in public.
People just want to live, and no one can do that with current job seeker.

i'm on disability and get around $1200 a fortnight, but practically most of that goes to rent and bills ($700 rent alone), then $100 for my medicines, $100 for food, $50 - $100 for gas/ubers depending on how many hospital/doctor appointments i have to go to, internet bill, electricity, water, etc. $1200 initially sounds like a lot, but it isn't very much after having to pay for things, especially if you're disabled/sick and need to pay for medicine/treatments and transport to frequent medical appointments
