Nabeez is a traditional, refreshing Sunnah drink made by soaking dates or raisins in water.
Ingredients
4 to 7 dates (pitted; Ajwa or Medjool preferred) or a handful of raisins
1 glass to 2 cups of clean, room-temperature water (approx. 250–500 ml)
Optional: A pinch of black seeds (kalonji) or a small amount of honey
Step-by-Step Instructions
Wash the fruit: Rinse your chosen dates (remove the pits) or wash the raisins thoroughly.
Soak: Place the dates or raisins into a clean glass jar or pitcher and pour the water over them.
Cover and rest: Cover the container and let it soak at room temperature (or in the refrigerator) for 8 to 12 hours, ideally overnight.
Prepare to drink: In the morning, you can drink the infused water as is, eat the softened dates/raisins separately, or blend the entire mixture together for a smooth, sweet, and pulpy drink as outlined on The Teal Tadjine.
Important Notes
Do not mix: According to Hadith traditions, dates and raisins should be soaked in separate containers rather than mixed together.
Consume quickly: Drink it within 12 to 48 hours, and store it in the refrigerator if it is warm, so it does not begin to ferment into alcohol.
