How do you keep them alive? The people I know who have barn cats never have them live more than 2 years before being eaten by coyotes. It makes me sad.

I am in Saskatchewan. We get weeks of - 30 c temps. Our barn cat have all the food they want and a heated water bowl. They always lived in the barn without heat pads. They had straw to make nests in. Right now Iam taking care of a stray cat that came to me a month ago

My dad tried having a barn cat. It lasted a week because he was so friendly and loved my dad so much that he couldn't leave him outside. He turned into my dad's lap cat ❤️❤️❤️

Yes they need heated spaces, people that think they dont need to have a heat source need to spend a night in an unheated structure in winter😂

My cats have always had an oil heater in summer and a air conditioner in summer. This was at my old home where I converted an Amish built shed to their home with an enclosed outdoor area they could go in to stay safe. Now they have a room in the corner of my basement, still use an oil heater at night and during the day when I’m home, and a large fenced in area going out the window of their room.
