@nickdpt01: #stitch with @jp_thept Why do physical therapists always prescribe 3 sets of 10? Because 3×10 isn’t magic—and it shouldn’t be the endpoint of exercise prescription. Good physical therapy uses progressive loading, individualized exercise dosage, and graded exposure to continually match the challenge to the patient’s current capacity. Sets, reps, resistance, range of motion, and even the exercise itself should evolve as the patient improves. The goal isn’t to make someone good at 3×10. It’s to build enough strength, confidence, and load tolerance to get them back to the things they actually want to do. #PhysicalTherapy #PTTok #ExercisePrescription #Rehab

I’ve had plenty of activities where I can LITERALLY see that a patient can’t do 3x10, so I’ll ask them to do 2x5 AND ONLY IF they feel comfortable with that, I’ll tell them to do 3x5 😅

Definitely has to do with hypertrophy training but not all exercise needs to induce hypertrophy in a rehab setting and most patients aren’t tolerating the right load to induce it in the first place. however, it is an easy number to count to and we all know how bad patients are at counting.
