100k is like 6k a month after taxes. For a family of 4 in California its tight.

We make 42K more now than we did a year ago and I also thought we were being super irresponsible with our money so I actually sat down and looked at it. Our rent increased from $1,750 a month to $2,210 a month, my gas went from $38 for a full tank from E to $68 for a full tank from E, our groceries went from $200 every two weeks to $435 every two weeks, and all our bills increase by roughly $17 every few months. We’ve not been on a date in almost 2 years and forget vacations. We’ve buy generic everything, we don’t buy frozen meals and eat leftovers often, we make our own coffees at home, etc. and it’s still at the point where I can’t afford to replace the 1 pair of shoes I have.

By the time health insurance, retirement, and taxes are taken out, it’s paycheck to paycheck.

It’s so comical to me how people get on an app and try to have a linear thought as if there are not nuances and variables to life. 🙄 all to stroke their ego, and for views/money. It’s such a strange concept

I live in California make 400-500k a year, own 2 businesses and with our mortgage, taxes (home, business, corp) food, bills, 4 children, etc. etc. we are “comfortable” but certainly not in the same financial stability we were in a few years ago.

Well I am caring for an entire household myself with 4 kids and a paraplegic dad in a state with the highest income tax and paying roughly 25% of my annual income in taxes. I can save but also have transmissions that need replacing, fences that need fixing, appliances that break, sports fees, travel etc. it’s an expensive phase of life I’m in and yeah inflation at the tank and grocery store isn’t helping

idk .. when I was making $45k my grocery bill was $75 every one to two weeks... now I'm at $100k and it's $180-$200 every week. we aren't buy crab or lobster. it's just regular ass groceries. it was $20 to fill my Corolla, same Corolla, now $40 is giving me half a tank. I could keep going...

My insurance premiums have gone up. My property taxes have gone up. My utility bills have gone up. The cost of the grocery store has gone up. I’m so sorry for spending money on required things.

What I hear you saying is that we should adjust our spending habits due to government corruption and so the billionaires can be more billioney. Inflation and interest rates are set by those who will never pay taxes. I am not a sheep.

We’re making more money than we ever have. I compared our tax returns from years past to this years earnings. We were living well on less than 6 figures 3 years ago. We surpassed 6 figures in 2024 and since everything is way up, we’re nearly always paycheck to paycheck.

really depends on the area you live in and the cost of living in that area.

Inflation is way up….. gas is up… groceries are up… everything costs more. Granted I’m just a small town guy who works in social work and I’m living paycheck to paycheck
