I learned Spanish in Spain. My Spanish teacher had learned French many years ago. And when a French student didn't understand something, she (the teacher) would translate it to French for him. He never got her the 1st time, she had to try like 3-4 times, and when finally he did understand, he always was like "aaaaa, [the word]" and his pronunciation was 99% like hers 😂🤣😂🤣

We were at a restaurant in Paris last week and they had a very small cocktail menu and I’m not trying to order something off menu somewhere I’m not familiar with so I ordered the Long Island. Server could not figure out what I wanted (he spoke English pretty well) so I pointed, I needed to say the words is and land, not island 🤣

I remember standing in line at the airport to fly from Geneva to Paris for work and hearing a man speak French in a very exaggerated accent like this, I seriously thought he was doing an impression as a joke…then I looked, he looked just like his accent. And I had had a French roommate in college from Burgundy! So I knew thought I knew the French.
