Excellent :
Its always a time frame we can never prove. its either billions of years ago and in a billion of years

Linguistic drift compared to genetics and evolution.I love it. that is a very good analogy

Thinking Skeptically :
I like using the language analogy as well because it happens over generations within populations, just like evolution.

I usually start with how Humans technically still are Monkeys. Since species is not a rigid boundary in nature. Using the heap analogy, for gradualism. So there is no point where a monkey gives birth to a non monkey. Similar to how a heap of sand Never stops becoming a heap of sand, by taking gradual small changes. The Point where we call something human enough, and Not sandy enough is arbitrary. I used the Language analogy specifically to help them understand the gradualism for separate species or separate languages coming from the same ancestor.

Except language has an intelligent design, it’s not just random

As an English professor, I love this analogy!! Because the same people who vehemently refuse to believe in evolution are the exact same people who fight tooth and nail to oppose the evolution of the English language, and they do so with a tenuous grasp on science or the English language! 🤣😂

If you take a reptile for example, no amount of years of evolution would make him Not reptile, it will always be a reptile

dud i like u but your analogy was incorrect we can prove that english evolved from proto germanic and latin

But it doesn't take generations to create language either. Isaac Newton created calculus in his lifetime. which is just as complicated as language. so if you had a smart enough person, it will only take one person to make English. thus, it's not an evolution it's an invention

my argument for this: do you believe that some people are born with a sixth finger, or some webbed toes, or are slightly taller? if so, then why is it hard to believe that in the animal world these random mutations could be favourable and might either help them avoid death, or make them more favourable as sexual partners? and so their offspring would carry the same mutation, and might even make those mutations more pronounced or more frequently occuring. its bizzare that some people cant wrap their minds around this

well once everyone understands that the claim isn't something along the lines of: mammals evolved from reptiles. then they'll be able to grasp how it works.... we split off from each other from an animal type that had reptilian, mammalian and aves features. Over time their offspring slowly lost the features of the other two, depending on where they migrated to. So mammals lost the reptilian and aviary features, becoming mammals. Nowhere does that state one class evolved form the other. The classes split from a combined one, like a specialization.

But barely you can find people who know that all languages are subject for interpretation, many words are without constant meaning or not precise at all, that's why it is difficult for us to understand each other! For example words like too much or little or big and small are like that, but it's much better to say 2 metres instead of saying he is a tall guy! I learned this from Jacque Fresco, he is explaining it better than me!

Lizards were put on a small island in the UK. 50 years just 50 years the lizards are thriving, why ? there not the same lizards a brand new species all came from the original lizards but now they are completely different to their original to the point they are no longer any part of the original species of lizards, they are completely a new species. that's evolution.
