@.viberush.tales: A paid-off car beats a monthly payment to impress strangers every single time 💀 What’s the best money rule you swear by? #askreddit #storytime #money #viral #fyp
Took me years to understand what “pay yourself first” actually meant. As soon as you get paid, put 10-20% into an index fund and forget about it. Then your rent/bills/food, anything left is for fun & experiences. Not enough left? Find ways to increase your income. Everytime you get a pay rise, stick to that 10-20%. The rest is just time. Hard not to get rich if you start that young enough.

Buy clothes that last. Dont need to be named brands cause then you just paying for the name.
and dont just donate clothes to charity shops. any clothes you dont want any more just sell online in bulk for cheap, as long as they still decent quality.

Try your best to have an emergency fund even if it’s £20 if you don’t break into it by next pay day add what you can to it, it builds up. Buy a pushbike cycle everywhere instead of public transport the bike will pay for itself and eventually give you spare cash

Put a cap and be happy about it. People always chace like "When i hit 10k i would be so happy" but then you hit it and you still press the pedal. Thing is that if you don't know your goal you will always run after money. Do the math, see how much you need to live, dress, eat, travel, you name it but when you hit it just relax and enjoy your life.

Houses, I generally wont spend (large amounts) if it doesnt add value or retain it at least. Dont get me wrong if it is your forever home, fine, spend 50k on your kitchen and enjoy it. However if not, dont bother with the quartz tops and the bespoke made cupboards just to sell in in a couple of years. Obviously this can depend on the house, but for an average person that money you spent on that dream expensive kitchen, you wont be getting back and it would be better invested or spent elsewhere. I have seen so many people throw so much money away in their homes knowing they're not staying.
