Jacob & Co. Brilliant Flying Tourbillon — Yellow Sapphires Rose Gold II The 42mm rose gold case is covered in baguette-cut yellow sapphires using an invisible-setting technique, creating an almost continuous, vivid surface. There’s very little metal visible between the stones, so from a distance, it almost looks like the entire case has been carved from one piece of bright yellow stone. The same goes for the dial, which is fully covered in baguette-cut yellow sapphires. A one-minute flying tourbillon sits at 6 o’clock, without an upper bridge, so the cage appears to float above the movement. The time display is simple — just hours and minutes, with polished rose gold hands sitting above the gem-set dial. The hand-wound JCBM01 calibre powers the watch and provides 100 hours of power reserve. The movement is gem-set as well, with brilliant-cut diamonds set into the bridges and mainplate. Total carat weight for the whole watch: 404 yellow sapphires — approximately 35.70 ct. 338 white diamonds — approximately 1.32 ct. (movement side) Normally, I’d think that a combination of rose gold and yellow stones couldn’t work, but actually, in this case, it works surprisingly well. I couldn’t try it on, as the strap was too small. I’d probably swap the colour of it anyway. It looks ok on the white alligator, but personally, I’d go with something different. Black or navy, maybe?
