Why tf would you not just charge him at the end like every other restaurant?

that’s totally reasonable for you BUT you should be talking to management about a better way to handle cash because the customer should ABSOLUTELY be able to use cash.

This is an old school thing where they’ll give you a bunch of money in the beginning and you can just take that amount as they go and leave the pile of cash like in a book in front of them. Like if they order a vodka soda and it’s seven dollars take seven dollars out of the book and put the change back in the book right in front of them like people used to just leave cash on the bar in front of them the whole night. I only know this cause my mom worked in a dive bar in Wisconsin for a long time when I was little.

I can sit at a table and order food and drinks and don't need a card, but suddenly sitting at the bar doing the same thing I do. It's asinine.

I don’t like overspending when I drink. When I bring cash I know exactly how much money I have left to spend. That being said, I never try to open a tab.

I’ve literally never been to a bar where they let you pay at the end. Either open it or pay per round. I saw someone complaining about having to pre pay for gas and I was genuinely curious what century they thought we were living in

I’m with you on this. I’m not chancing it with everybody to walk out or BS with me, also it’s way faster if I have a card on file and order something else to just go add it to your tab and keep it moving instead of closing people out every round.

Bartender here it is house policy at our bar.. we don’t do cash tabs because of counterfeits/ theft accusations…It has to have a card attached or you have to close out every single time
