In 2015, an ordinary Canadian news interview accidentally captured one of the funniest examples of police de-escalation on live television. Ontario Provincial Police Const. Graham Williamson was speaking with CBC reporter Neil Herland on an overpass in Toronto about a fatal crash near Black Creek Drive when the reporter suddenly noticed two drivers arguing on the road below. The interview immediately turned into something completely different. Williamson looked over the edge and started shouting at the men to get back in their cars. When they kept arguing, he warned them they could be arrested and yelled, "Both of you, grow up! Come on boys, move it!" The funniest part was that it actually worked. Neither man became physical, both eventually returned to their vehicles, and Williamson ended the whole thing with a sarcastic "Everybody's a winner, don't worry." The CBC footage quickly went viral after being posted online. What was supposed to be a serious traffic interview instead became a perfect unscripted moment of a police officer stopping a road-rage confrontation from an overpass without even having to walk down to the road. Save this post to remember one of Canada's funniest live TV moments and share it with someone who would have loved to see this happen in real time.
