If they hadn’t allowed Leclerc to hold him up after the first stop, and told Leclerc he is on a different strategy, Lewis would’ve easily pulled an 8-10 second gap on Leclerc, and his second stop would have been a no brainier. Instead Lewis is left in no man’s land trying to hang it out on a one stop, which is why he asked about the state of the soft at the end of the stint. They messed up Lewis’ strategy trying to give Leclerc a chance at the win, which Max had covered all day long.

Lewis made the wrong call under the vsc but that is a result of constant poor strategy calls from Ferrari and lack of information being given so he's forced to try and do it himself.
