@swiftappcrafting: Welsh explorer Ash Dykes is currently deep in one of the most hostile places on Earth the Congo Basin paddling an inflatable kayak more than 700 km (≈434 miles) down the remote Sangha River. He launched on October 8 from Nola in the Central African Republic and is heading toward Mossaka in the Republic of the Congo, where the Sangha meets the Congo River. The whole thing is expected to take 3–4 weeks. This is Mission 1 of Project 6 six extreme expeditions across six different environments in just 12 months, with barely two weeks recovery between each one. He’s not alone: a local guide and a UK videographer are with him. They’re documenting everything in real time for millions of people watching. What’s actually out there Nile crocodiles and territorial hippos in the water Forest elephants, western lowland gorillas, snakes, and spiders on land Malaria, dengue, parasites, contaminated water, extreme heat + humidity Days away from any real medical help Dykes himself has said the wildlife isn’t even the biggest worry the isolation, disease, and zero margin for error are. Before he even put the kayak in the water he already dealt with a lost bag (containing the kayak pumps), visa issues that forced a long detour, border checkpoints, fallen trees blocking roads, and a rain-soaked motorboat ride. Classic Ash. Right now he’s on the river. People online are already saying “I think he might be dead by now” and the internet is glued to every update. This is not a stunt. This is a five-time world-record holder (Mongolia solo crossing, full Yangtze, Madagascar, etc.) putting himself in one of the last true wildernesses left on the planet… live. #A#AshDykesC#CongoBasinP#Project6S#SanghaRiverE#ExtremeExplorer#Congo
