@abbyrobertsxxoo: My dad was the Nickel Mines Amish schoolhouse shooter. This is me finding my voice. For almost 20 years, I’ve carried shame for something I had absolutely no control over. I never imagined I’d be sharing my story with thousands of strangers, let alone speaking about it out loud. This is terrifying, but maybe healing starts when we stop hiding. I’m more than what my father did. And I’m finally learning that I deserve to tell my own story. 🤍 #HealingJourney #TraumaSurvivor #BreakingTheSilence #MyStory

since you addressed the fear, I just want to let you know I have never heard of the Nickel Mines Amish shooter. also this is my first impression of you, with that you protrayed a woman who is empathetic, guarded, powerful, understanding, and brave.

We moved across the country and changed our names after my dad was on America’s most wanted. He didn’t get convicted of murder, but he spent my whole childhood in prison, and the person who turned him in is no longer on the planet. We joke about it now, but no one really talks about the little ways it’s impacted us. I call police over every drunk driver. I went after a guy who stole a girl’s purse. There’s this weird desire of chasing justice for others in small ways that I think stems from balancing the karma of what he did somehow. I know that drugs are responsible for his choices, and that I will never be like him, but there is this underlying feeling of responsibility to make up for it somehow. Thank you for talking about it. ♥️

Dear sweet girl- you had nothing to do with that shooting. Your dad s actions were not your actions. Stop bearing this burden. Try to live your life and enjoy those sweet children of yours.

As a local that passes that location several times a week and think about that day.. your dad did that not you.. do not feel bad for your father's decisions, no one blames you. ❤️Be strong for your kids :)

I was in nursing school when this happened, less than 5 miles away. I’m so sorry for what you and the families of those babies had to endure. 🤍

Forgiveness for people that are undeserving is overrated. It won’t suddenly make you feel better. You don’t owe anyone anything. Thank you for sharing and pushing through, I know it’s tough. 💙💙💙

Prayers for you, your family and the family that lost those girls!! You definitely don't have any fault in this and having to feel like you have to carry that burden for over 20 years can be a heavy weight. Hope you are able to have peace.

You're not your father! You are a very brave person speaking about this but again your father's actions don't define who you are! Stay strong!

I lived on Mine road when it happened. My dad knew your dad just because we lived next to an Amish farm he drove milk for. Never once did I think to judge any of his family members. You deserve to live as normal a life as possible, you lost your dad that day ❤️

I worked in the operating room at Hershey Medical Center on that day and have thought of your family so many times over the years. I hoped you were all doing ok. Thank you for posting your story. You are not your father. If you want to talk please reach out.

You are not responsible for your fathers actions. Anyone judging you based who your dad is isn’t worth a second of your time. 🥰

I’ve never understood the forgiveness thing either as a family member of a person that caused harm and is no longer here. I made so many harmful choices and allowed myself to believe I deserved less because of his actions. Now in my mid 40’s, I think it’s more of I released the guilt of association to him vs forgiveness (because I never will). You are a victim of his actions and not responsible in anyway honey and I’m proud of you, even 20 years later, working on healing. ❤️🫂❤️

There is a painting that someone did for this tragedy. The Dentist I worked for had a patient who painted it. I will try to get a picture of it on Tuesday. I go in for a cleaning then. I’m so very sorry and my Mom and I know the Amish are very forgiving, which is a blessing. We are in Berks County.
