I’m always so fascinated by employees of large companies holding firm on silly little rules like this. Like even if she wasn’t allowed to bring the breast pump by Delta’s rules is it that big of a deal for the gate agent to just let her go? Like does it change the gate agent’s life that this person had one extra bag with her breast pump supplies?

Idk I kinda want to fly w mine even though it’s retired just to see - bc I’d be like “this is a medical device not unlike an oxygen tank, a colostomy bag, diabetic needles. If I don’t pump, my baby isn’t here to eat. They explode. What are you on? And then I’d sue the shit out of them for discrimination and harassment & that airline doesn’t hold a cent to that

I work at the airport, not for the airlines though. The only thing I can think of why she would be denying the device is because those devices usually contain lithium ion batteries and they cannot go in checked baggage under the plane, however, she would be allowed to take it as a carry on. The delta lady did not explain this but argued instead of looking up the policy, she was just spewing crap off the top of her head and making sh*t up. This also seems like she is at the ticket counter, not the gate, so technically she can bring whatever she wants to the security checkpoint and TSA will tell her what she can and cannot bring. (TSA will never tell you that you cannot bring a breast pump nor are they allowed to ask if or what your medical condition is) also, i don’t know how the delta employee would’ve even known she had the pump with her if it was in her bag, you aren’t required to tell people what is in your bag. If she checked the bag in and had something in there that actually wasn’t allowed, TSA will call and inform the airline so that you may retrieve the item and figure out something else to do with it.

my pump died and by the time the insurance agreed to pay for another one 3 days later and bought one my milk completely stopped coming out. its important to not skip days if feeding a baby like that so its even more necessary if u dont have ur kid w u. (aka my kid refused to latch by at 6 months so it was only way to get the milk out for me)
