@drsermedmezher: POV: You Just Told the Doctor. Sources- PMID 37193476 @Nurseloveofficial on TT Women often experience heart attack symptoms that differ from the classic image of crushing, center-chest pain radiating down the left arm. While chest pressure can still occur, women are far more likely to present with subtle, non-traditional warning signs such as shortness of breath, unusual fatigue, lightheadedness, or nausea. They may also describe discomfort in non-chest areas, such as the upper back, neck, jaw, stomach, or shoulders, which can easily be mistaken for heartburn, indigestion, or stress. These subtle presentation differences happen because women are more prone to microvascular disease, where the heart's smallest blood arteries become narrow or damaged, rather than a single large artery being blocked. Because these symptoms can feel less dramatic or sudden, women frequently delay seeking emergency medical treatment. Recognizing that a heart attack can manifest as intense fatigue, sudden cold sweats, or persistent upper body discomfort rather than severe chest pain is critical for prompt diagnosis and lifesaving care. #chestpain #health #heartattack

Nick Halden :
I get inflammation in the muscle fibers between my upper ribs that radiates to my shoulder. I've had this issue off and on for 2 decades and honestly I'm worried I wouldn't even know if I'm having a heart attack because I'll just assume it's another one of those benign recurring pains.

one time, i had pressure in my chest, and my left arm felt like it had a blood pressure cuff on it. i was annoyed so i layed on my side on my arm until it fell asleep cause i knew it was just my anxiety. probably still not the best choice though.

Dr. Stephen Kolakowski :
A concerning symptom can be easy to dismiss when it doesn’t match the ‘movie version’ of a heart attack. What misconception do you hear most often?
