@theventure: We only post about the world's greatest entrepreneurs! Louis Vuitton had to start over at 49. In 1870 the Franco-Prussian War reached Paris. During the siege, his workshop at Asnières was used as a barracks, and it was stripped of its tools and its wood. He had set that workshop up in 1859, on the Seine so the poplar for his trunks could come in by barge, and next to the railway into Paris. Eleven years of work were gone. He started again. In 1871 he opened a new shop at 1 rue Scribe in Paris and rebuilt Asnières. It is still where Louis Vuitton makes its special orders today, and the family house beside it is now a museum.
