@paul.morriso: 1️⃣ Stop letting every weekend look exactly the same. After my separation, I suddenly had more time to myself. But somehow every free weekend turned into the same thing. Groceries. Netflix. A few errands. Monday again. I wasn’t unhappy. I just wasn’t excited about anything. ✅ Try the Friday rule: By Thursday evening, make ONE plan for the weekend. A concert, a football match, a coastal hike, or dinner somewhere new. 👉 You don’t need a completely new life. You need weekends worth looking forward to. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ 2️⃣ Stop using work to fill every empty hour. After divorce, it’s easy to throw yourself into work. More meetings. More projects. Longer hours. You’re productive, but when someone asks what you’ve been doing for fun, you have no answer. ✅ Try the 6 PM rule: Pick ONE evening a week when work ends at six. Join a tennis club, take a cooking class, or meet an old friend for dinner. 👉 Your life shouldn’t be just work, responsibilities, and waiting for the next weekend. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ 3️⃣ Build a social life that doesn’t revolve around couples or dating. One thing I didn’t expect after divorce? How much of my social life was built around being a couple. Dinner parties. Holidays. Weekends with mutual friends. Suddenly, making plans felt complicated. But I wasn’t looking for another relationship. I just wanted people to do interesting things with. That’s when I discovered GoPlaces.club. It’s a place where divorced, separated, widowed, and single people connect through travel ideas. Not dating. Just finding people who want to explore the same places. ✅ Try this tonight: Write down THREE destinations you’d love to visit. Pick one and find people on GoPlaces.club who want to go there too. 👉 Sometimes the easiest way to make new friends is to start with something you both want to do. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ 4️⃣ Stop putting your own plans at the bottom of the list. Work deadlines. School pickups. Kids’ activities. Family responsibilities. You’re constantly organizing things for everyone else. But when was the last time you planned something purely because YOU wanted to? ✅ Try the 7–30–90 challenge: ❤️ In 7 days — try something new. A restaurant, a concert, or a group activity. ❤️ In 30 days — take a weekend trip somewhere you’ve never been. ❤️ In 90 days — plan a holiday you’ve always wanted to take. 👉 You can be a great parent, work hard, and still have a life that’s exciting for you. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ 5️⃣ Stop waiting for a new partner to start traveling again. Maybe it’s a weekend in Lisbon. Skiing in the Alps. Christmas in New York. You keep saving places you’d love to visit. But there’s always that question: “Who would I go with?” You don’t need to be in a relationship to have someone to travel with. On GoPlaces.club, people share travel ideas and find others interested in joining. When 10 people show interest, they can move toward planning together in a group chat. ✅ Do this today: Find ONE travel idea that excites you and tap “Join planning.” No booking or commitment required just to show interest. 👉 Your next adventure doesn’t have to wait for your next relationship. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ❤️ Save this if you’re trying to figure out what life looks like after divorce or separation. Because starting over isn’t always about finding someone new to love. Sometimes it’s about remembering what YOU love. The places you’ve always wanted to see. The things you used to enjoy. The plans you stopped making somewhere along the way. You can have a demanding job, be a great parent, and still build a social life that makes you excited about the future. You don’t have to start dating to start living differently. ✈️ Find people who share your travel interests at GoPlaces.club. Your relationship may have ended. But the exciting part of your life doesn’t have to end with it. ❤️

I’m navigating separation / divorce however we are still cohabiting due to financial constraints. I’ve started to do things for myself like go to the theatre on my own. I’m enjoying the freedom of this however I only have this freedom because we are still cohabiting, once the flat is sold and finances are split, a solo mortgage will be needed as property prices to buy or rent in London suburbs is Monopoly money so my financial freedom will be limited. Your ideas and suggestions are great and not all cost money however a lot do and I’m just not in a position to holiday / travel whenever I want. I’m having to restart and rebuild everything from scratch including friendships and at 53 / 54 with an average / less than average income that’s a hard pill to swallow.

I poured everything I had into work after becoming a widow. I am slowly rebuilding my life, but not interested in dating at this point.
