We had something similar in the UK in the 00’s. For my son after carefully researching which provider to invest with, the fund where continuously sold on, when he turned 18, it was only worth £18 more than what was invested, the rest went on management fund fees; his friends found the same regardless of investment provider. So who truly benefits? 🤷♀️

but all the money invested is into the stock market for private companies thats also why big corporations support it. it is free money from the government into the stock market for big corporations in there stock market - meta, Amazon, dell. vangaurd...ect. listed on government websites its not a selfless act its to invest into private corporations that supported this government. Nope, I don’t trust the government to control any of our money. The kids won’t ever see a dime of it. Look what they did with social security. Do yourself a favor and open your own Roth IRA account for your kids.

I don't get why people don't understand what this means for the children. IRAs have been around since I was 18 or so. Tax-defered growth accounts. Working? Any earned income you contribute during the year will reduce your taxable income, = lower taxes you pay.
