@bradleyharrisonpmhnp: 🩵 October is OCD Awareness Month, and October 11–17, 2026, is OCD Awareness Week. OCD goes far beyond being neat or organized. It can involve unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors or mental rituals used to relieve distress. Common themes include contamination, checking, harm, symmetry or “just-right” feelings, religious or moral concerns, unwanted sexual thoughts, and relationship doubts. These themes can overlap—they aren’t separate diagnoses. Compulsions aren’t always visible. Mentally replaying conversations, silently repeating words, checking feelings, or repeatedly seeking reassurance can also be part of OCD. An intrusive thought alone does not mean someone has OCD. What matters is the full pattern, including distress, time spent, and the impact on daily life. OCD is treatable. Exposure and response prevention (ERP) and medication can help. You deserve understanding, support, and effective care. 🩵 Save and share to help increase understanding and reduce stigma. Educational content only; not a diagnosis or individualized medical advice. #OCDAwarenessWeek #OCDAwarenessMonth #OCD #MentalHealthEducation #PMHNP
