@caspiro.film: I re-thatched an abandoned Japanese farmhouse by hand and moved in The farmhouse had stood empty at the edge of the rice terraces for decades, its thatch black and slumped and growing grass. I tore the old roof off down to the bamboo and laid it again in fresh reed, course by course. Inside I took the rotten floor up down to the old stone footings, built it again in hinoki and plastered the walls in clay. The big room opens straight onto the rice fields. The little room behind the paper doors is the bedroom, with a futon under the window.#Home #DIY #construction #timelapse #building
