Because the other option is salary, and with that option they can basically tell you to work as much overtime as they want without paying overtime.

The way I would be SOOOO efficient. I purposefully drag stuff out or wait or push to tomorrow — because one thing’s for sure— I am not about to be bored… and I will act my wage… I do exactly what is required of me and a little bit more … but beyond that? Nah. If I could go home to my kids sooner??? Oooooh!! I mean tbh I could do my job from home… but we won’t talk about that. 😏

I worked at a really small off the rack bridal shop, in a small part of town, we were always DEAD on Mondays/tuesdays. One Monday afternoon I had deep cleaned, swept, vacuumed, dusted, ALL OF IT. and we didn’t have a single customer for the rest of the day. So then on Tuesday, we had been open for like 4-5 hours and STILL not a SINGLE person had come in so I asked if I could read a book and they told me no that I had to mop and sweep the floor again… even though I’d just done it the day before and not a single person had come since. I hated that job.

I get paid hourly and work an off shift, so I often get paid to just sit at a desk and watch movies and tiktok. But I also don't get paid for what I do - I get paid for what I know how to do. My employer doesn't care what I DO there as long as I know WHAT to do when/if something happens.

Because I want paid for all 8 or 10 hrs that Im punched in. I dont want 4 hrs of pay. I cant get my work done in 2, but im damn sure still getting paid for 8. Everyone is so bent on "everything is soooo expensive, cant afford to live, blah blah blah" but yet every other post is about working less hours. Make it make sense

I wfh so I get to finish work when my work is finished and as long as I stay clocked in, they just don't know. Until things change and they realise that it's their old fashioned measurements that are wrong and not me, I'll keep quiet and keep my work/life balance
