When I was younger a group of friends and I were camping on the Oregon coast just near Harris beach I believe, we met a couple new people out there and they all dared us to go wave hopping with them. Being young & naive we did it, it was in June so the weather was beautiful. I remember getting so far out after the first initial dunk, trying to get used to the temperature. Then I felt the sand just disappeared underneath me. That’s when I realized how stupid it was. Waves just ripping you around as you get colder and lose your breath. Sharks didn’t cross my mind in the moment because my body was in shock and I felt myself losing control of my automatic functions. I just remember swimming so hard that once I reached the shore I had lost all feeling it was like I was a marionette. I think about that day constantly, seeing these type of videos in the PNW setting really shows how lucky we got being as inexperienced as we were. The ocean is unpredictable & the things living in it are closer than you think lol. kudos to you man!
