@backtothepicture: With Indigenous Peoples’ Day coming up, we went looking through our collection and brought out two incredible artists whose work deserves a closer look: R.C. Gorman and Hulleah J. Tsinhnahjinnie. We’re putting them up in the gallery to celebrate Indigenous art, storytelling, and perspectives. 🎨 R.C. Gorman (Navajo, 1931–2005) was a renowned artist known for his expressive depictions of Native American women. His work blends simplified forms, rich colors, and flowing shapes into powerful compositions. The warm reds and golden yellows in this piece make it glow, complemented by a bold red frame and layered mats that echo the artwork’s palette. 📷 Hulleah J. Tsinhnahjinnie (Seminole/Muscogee/Diné) is an influential photographer, artist, and educator whose work explores Indigenous identity, representation, and the power of photography to shape how people are seen and remembered. This striking black-and-white image has a contemplative presence, framed simply in black with a generous white mat that lets the photograph speak for itself. Two artists, two distinct visual languages, and two reminders that Indigenous art is diverse, contemporary, and very much alive. Come see them on the walls at Back to the Picture. ❤️ #IndigenousPeoplesDay #IndigenousArt #NativeAmericanArt #CustomFraming #mountary
