SHANGRI-LA FIJI - HONEST REVIEW 🇫🇯🌺 I've sat on this review for a while - because I know it's going to be controversial. But this is my honest experience of the Shangri-La Fiji in 2026, and IMO it's not what it was. The beach is genuinely beautiful, and the views from the rooms are lovely - but unfortunately the resort no longer matches the marketing material, and I don't feel it's up to the standard of other Shangri-La properties. For the money, I think families can have a much better experience elsewhere in Fiji. 😢 If you've already booked and can't change hotels - here are my tips to make the most of your stay: 👇🏻👇🏻 🍽️ Food & Dining: ✔️ Book all restaurants ahead - prioritise Takali and Golden Cowrie for all meals. Including breakfast. ✔️ Golden Cowrie is adults only - but kids over 12 can join you. ✔️ Book the wine, cheese and pasta pairing night at the adults-only buffet if your kids are happy in kids club or with a nanny - the desserts were excellent, as was the live music. ✔️ Half board is ample - big breakfast and dinner is plenty. If you get hungry, head to Flying Fish outside the resort. 🛒 Budget Tips: ✔️ Stop at Truemart supermarket on the way. You’ll pay $3.50 FJD for water rather than $8 at the resort. Stock up on snacks while you're there too. ✔️ Check your bill daily. 🌊 Kids & Activities: ✔️ Pack buckets, spades and snorkels - the beach is beautiful, and kids will love looking for crabs, and feeding the fish. ✔️ Book the reef education centre and build a fish house. Lots of positive feedback from older kids on this one. ✔️ Kids must be over 7 to use the inflatable waterpark. So don’t promise younger ones they can try! ✔️ Bring a stroller - the resort is huge and golf carts can take a while. ✔️ Pack a Fiji Travel Diary and Activity Book for the kids, and books for you too - there will be more downtime at this resort, than hotels. It’s just that type of resort. 💆Services: ✔️ Massages at Helen's at the front of the property are reportedly far better than the resort spa. Helen's also does laundry and hair braiding. Other: ✔️ Carry hand sanitiser with you at all times, and avoid the main buffet if possible. 😉 #fiji #fijiholiday #shangrila #familytravel #fijitravel
