@hr_explained: Replying to @Divination_Witch 🔮🧿🧹🧙♀️🖕 I used to manage retail stores. It was very obvious if the cashier or fitting room attendant just were not there. No policing needed. It was obvious. Just like it would be obvious if a teacher left their classroom multiple times a day for 30 minutes. It would also be obvious if a fireman wasn’t holding a hose to put out a fire because they walked off for a 30 minute bathroom break. And I know you all would notice if the Starbucks drive thru staff wasn’t there for 30 minutes because they just went to the bathroom for 30 minutes. Jobs have rules. This isn’t breaking news. Some of these rules are quite literally related to safety. And for employees who need extra breaks or longer breaks due to a medical condition or disability, they can go through the ADA or PWFA accommodations process. #humanresources #hrtiktok #careeradvice #pwfa #corporatelife
You people are wild for letting late stage capitalism forget our humanity

that might cross into 'undue hardship' if it compromises safety of others like the example of teachers and first responders

Honestly if the worker came back and said sorry I was in the bathroom for 30 min cause I hate this place and the people, I’d understand.

I've had to do an ADA Accommodation for extra bathroom breaks. It is disruptive but obviously for some medically needed.

A drive thru worker is not the only employee in the restaurant. It should be no big deal for someone to cover them while they go to the bathroom. If it is a big deal, thats a management/scheduling problem.

You’re correct, some people can’t fit in some- or any- careers. Which is why the attacks on disabled people who can not work by complying with these types of limitations need to end.

This is why I stopped working jobs that dont allow me to take as many bathroom breaks as I need.

When I worked in corrections we worked straight 10 hour days NO break . You ate your food standing if you had time . Before everyone comments YES it’s legal & it was part of our union contract . Now I work in an office and can bathroom break whenever I want & eat at my desk or on my 30 minute lunch . My pay is half as much at the office job 😩

most jobs regulate bathroom breaks unnecessarily. most jobs it's not relevant as long as the work gets done.

I can tell you’ve never worked In any position you just described. Those jobs have people who swap out for the to take a bathroom break. You cannot control a person’s bathroom needs 😂

Do they need a bathroom pass as well like we needed in middle school Ms. Micro Manager?! 🤦🏻♀️Call me crazy Id imagine the person working the drive through window would find coverage while they use the bathroom. Aren’t YOU embarrassed you’re obviously a terrible manager who isn’t managing therefore you’re “busy” dictating how long people can use the damn bathroom. They prob wouldn’t need so many breaks if they had a Manager who didn’t suck but yes I know it’s them, they’re the problem here 👌

So many people say “well that’s my employers problem” when really it’s shifting the work to their coworkers. If the drive thru person takes a 15 minute bathroom break every 90 minutes, the company doesn’t eat that time, someone else does that work for the same amount they were making only doing one job. The admin employee that does the same has someone else doing their work or are being expected to make up that time, which leads to complaining about how much they’re working or how someone else is not staying late as much, when this is all self inflicted because of all the time they want to spend in the bathroom! Take all the time you need and your full breaks but don’t get mad when the company is like “hey, are you ok? You’ve been here four hours and spent an hour of it in the bathroom… do you need to take a sick day? If you don’t, can you please not spend a quarter of your time working in the bathroom then?”

I am an overnight hospital administrative supervisor RN (aka house supervisor), and I do not have anyone to relieve me as backup during my 12 hour shift. I would not be able to do my job if I needed to have multiple 30 min bathroom breaks. I would have to switch to day shift where there are two supervisors on. I think many employers would like to accommodate people, but sometimes due to business need it’s not possible 😭

Didn’t see the original vid but yeah, multiple 30 min breaks is definitely a problem. Now if we’re complaining about quickly going to pee or something that’s one thing but yeah…I’d be questioning the need for literal hours spent in the bathroom every day.

user10486927476920 :
Wether an accommodation is reasonable depends on the demands of the specific job. An office worker meeting deadlines can be accommodated with extensive breaks. The examples you gave cannot. If that’s a needed accommodation for you, then you just can’t do those things, and that’s okay.
